Esta tradición no tiene otra fuente de autoridad que el relato del pueblo.
Todos la conocen en el Cuzco tal como hoy la presento.
Ningún cronista hace mención de ella, y sólo en un manuscrito de rápidas apuntaciones, que abarca desde la época del virrey marqués de Salinas hasta la del duque de la Palata, encuentro las siguientes líneas:
«En este tiempo del gobierno del príncipe de Squillace, murió malamente en el Cuzco, a manos del diablo, el almirante de Castilla, conocido por el descomulgado».

This tradition has no other source of authority than the account of the people.
Everyone in Cuzco knows it just as I present it today.
No chronicler makes mention of it, and only in a manuscript of quick notes, which spans from the time of the Viceroy Marquis of Salinas to that of the Duke of la Palata, do I find the following lines:
«In this time of the government of the Prince of Squillace, the Admiral of Castile, known as the excommunicated one, died badly in Cuzco, at the hands of the devil.»
